Today we got up naturally and didn't use any alarms. This meant that Amanda was up, had cleaned the kitchen, showered, and bags packed by 930 am and Erika hadn't gotten out of bed until 1130. After we were both ready at about 1 pm we stepped out the door and were greeted with rain. We waited another 20 minutes or so and after the rain had disappeared, we said goodbye and thanked Mike and Mark, and we hopped on our bikes and headed down the road.

We hadn't been on our bikes long before the sun was shining and it was beautiful! We enjoyed our ride and talked most of the day about SLO and the people we had met. We stopped at a gas station at the edge of Cambria to buy some stew and fill up on water. The gas station did not have water in the soda machine, but the workers let us fill up in the sink behind the counter. We were a bit hesitant, but after being assured that it was the best water in the city, we filled up and moved on. Just at dark we arrived at San Simeon State Park where we had planned to stay for the night. We set up our tent and headed off to the showers. There was no hot water and it was cold enough to see our breath, so we decided to forgo the shower and go make ourselves a warm meal and head to bed. We enjoyed a romantic dinner of propane stove cooked stew by head lamp light and went to bed full and satisfied.
