We woke up in the morning and enjoyed the pancake station. There were four different stoves ready to go with either pancake or crepe batter. We each had our fill of huge pancakes, packed up our belongings, and checked out. It was weird to be back on our bikes after such a long vacation. We started biking North with the plan to get to Oceanside, CA where we had a host set up.

We hadn't gotten out of San Diego before the first crisis occurred. We both have our sleeping gear bungee corded to our rear rack. Until this point, there haven't been any major problems with this setup. Today however, Amanda's long, red bungee turned rogue. There was a snap, a swish, and a clank. Erika mumbled some warning sounds and eventually yelled stop. By the time the bike came to a halt the red bungee had twisted into the tire spokes and gears. We don't know how this didn't cause a scary accident and serious damage, but thankfully it didn't. We pulled off to the side of the road and untangled the mess. It just so happens that while staying in Hot Springs, AR, Uncle John had given Erika two extra bungee cords that she then passed on to Amanda to save the day! Thanks Uncle John!

At the beginning of the day we stopped at a McDonald's and ended up meeting Mark Johnson, author and photographer of Argyle Armada. This book looks worthy of a check out. Here is the link to his website if you're interested in seeing some awesome sports photography: http://ironstring.com/wp/index.shtml Mark told us about multiple tours he has done across the US. One of which was with his girlfriend at the time and wife now. Traveling is the best test of love, ask us about our friendship at this point.

We took our time biking and stopped in multiple little beach towns along the way to enjoy the coast. We went to Del Mar Chocolate Bar and enjoyed a truffle and coconut mound. Yum, that sums it up.
Along the way we were in awe of the scenery. We had come a long way from biking through the Midwest. There were palm trees, the ocean, and a cool breeze on our faces. 40 miles didn't seem like anything. We repeated, "Wow," "Amazing," "Holy Cow," so many times today.

Before we knew it, we were approaching Oceanside! We arrived at Lydia and Billy's home and met them and their pets. They have two dogs, Honey and Christopher Robin, a cat, Kenga, and two geckos, Woozle and Heffalump. Are you getting the theme? They had an awesome little studio in their backyard that we got the privilege of calling home. We got settled in and showered up before heading to dinner. We went to a sports bar and ate delicious, and huge salads while watching the infamous Seahawks game. Those darn replacement refs. After filling our tummies and having good conversation with our hosts we returned home to get a good nights rest.
