Today Paul cheated us ahead to Nashville, TN; the 3 hour car drive probably would have taken us 3 days to bike. He drove us into the city and we began to explore. We got to see The Grand Ole Opry, the remake of The Parthenon, and all the downtown shops. Part way through our exploration we met back up with Rauno, who happened to make a pit stop in Nashville during his hitchhiking travels. After eating lunch, we said goodbye to Paul and thanked him for all of his help. We really enjoyed his company for the weekend and will take all of his advice to heart.
Before heading to our host Aaron's house, Rauno and the two of us sat down for a beer and listened to some live country music at Honky Tonk Central. During the walk to Aaron's a guy riding his bike approached us with a giant smile. He pulled over and asked if we were touring, and when we said yes he gave us each a big high five. Apparently he has a dream of touring the country, so he walked with us the last couple blocks to Aaron's, and even offered to let us stay at his place. We said bye to Oliver when we got there and made plans to meet up for a beer later that evening.
Aaron showed us around his house and introduced us to his roommates and friends. Their house was so cool! Especially because they are artists and musicians and display some of their own work. Aaron's roommates Mike and Kent cooked an amazing pasta dinner and shared it with all of us, Rauno included. We spent a bit more time talking and getting to know them while they set up their instruments for a jam session. We were impressed by how good they were and what a cool sound they had.
A little later we met back up with Oliver at Mafiaoza's. We told him all about our trip and what has been working well for us. He seemed really excited about the adventure. Hopefully he will get to go one day soon. Until then, he is planning on hosting other travelers through CouchSurfing. Thank you, Oliver, for stopping us on the street!
After walking back to Aaron's house we said goodbye to Rauno...forever?
