We rode into Asheville in the afternoon after an easy 25 mile ride. There we were greeted by our couch surfing host, Mike. He was a very friendly guy who quickly made us feel comfortable and told us to make ourselves at home. It was easy to do with such a great place to stay with an even more amazing view. We ate some food and got cleaned up and headed into the city to explore. We walked into town, which felt amazing because we have been on our bikes so much, and poked around through the little shops. We stopped at Double D's Coffee and Desserts and had an Iced Kick in the Butt coffee. It was amazingly delicious and the gentleman helping us was friendly and talkative. From there, we walked around the downtown scene enjoying the live music played by musicians on the street. We got to listen to a wide variety of street music, everyone is so talented.
Later in the evening we had a couple beers at Packs Tavern and then met back up with Mike and one of his friends and talked about our journey. We talked about what had led us to take the trip and what we had experienced so far. It was a very nice, calming evening because we knew that we didn't plan on riding the next day so we could really relax and enjoy our time in Asheville.
