The Monday morning started off great. I went for a great run and Laura and I got lost kinda but it was fun. I then got ready for the day and went to class. before we went on our tours for art history, our teacher told us our grade and explained what we got wrong. i was happy with my score because i got an A!! woo woo. i was excited and didn't know i was going to get that. after that we toured two Churches. we saw the Santa Maria Novella and the Santa Maria del Carmine.
in the Santa Maria Novella we saw The Holy Trinity by Masaccio a famous Renaissance painter. In the Santa Maria del Carmine we saw the Brancacci Chapel that was also done by Masaccio but also by Filipino and Masolino. we saw the Masaccio's famous scene of the Expulsion from Eden, and the large scene to the right of the Expulsion from the New Testament Gospel of Matthew. it was fascinating and beautiful art work. Michelangelo practiced drawing the frescoes in order to learn the style of his great Florentine predecessor.
after the tours our teacher asked if we wanted espresso. we were like ok, and he bought us all espresso during the rain storm that we experienced while ordering our coffee. it was kinda scary but cool at the same time because the thunder was so strong but i was content because my professor was there and i felt safe under this little tent thing...lol. it was fun, it made it an experience.
After art history class i went home and made lunch and studied for my make up quiz in Italian. the quiz was at one and class was at two. the teacher had them already grated when we got to class at two. it was great and i did very well on that quiz too. i hope i can keep up the good grades i have made so far. im nervous because right now is the easy material. its only going to get harder from here.
After Italian class i went home and studied for art history and organized my work. i have a lot more to study before our midterm this Thursday. Our roommates all got together tonight and made chicken, green peas, and potatoes. it was good and i was happy to get some chicken in my body. im now just studying and relaxing. tomorrow i think im going to climb to the top of the Duomo and then maybe have a picnic at the Michelangelo. im excited and i hope that the weather is better than it was today. i love my family and miss them tons. thanks for everything!
love always,
