So without too much hassle yesterday we managed to get transport to the boat that would take us to the island.  On Ko Kood itself we didn't have much of a clue as to where we wanted to go (apart from somewhere with a cheap room) so we literally jumped onto a songtheaw with the local Thai tourists and jumped off when we saw an area that looked affordable - our first (and ever) free ride in a songtheaw!

We decided to stay at Ban Pai, in the usual plain bamboo room and spent the afternoon at the beach lazying around and swimming.  To be honest, we'd seen much nicer beaches but at least it was quiet and we pretty much had the place to ourselves - nice not to see any 'english style tourist bars' everywhere.

Back at our place we ordered in some food and got chatting to a Dutch guy (Tony) who was cycling around SE Asia.  We did the social thing by inviting him to a game of scrabble which he wasn't too keen on (and to be fair, we were obviously only allowing English words as found in the good old Oxford dictionary) then headed next door to the Mangrove restaurant where Ollie got quite upset with a fish - it wasn't the fish's fault, Ollie was just somewhat miffed that the chef hadn't so even bothered to gut it for us!

Last night we woke to hear rustling and found that a rat had snuck in through a wall and devoured our cake we'd bought in town - gutted!  We decided to walk up to a waterfall as that was pretty much the only thing to do here according to the faithful LP but to be quite honest it was a big disappointment - not too clean and full of a big pipe system for the local water supply and in addition to that, it started to chuck it down with rain.........

Decided to take dinner at our place tonight which was much better as they did bother to gut the fish plus we ate great pineapple and fried rice.  More scrabble which I somehow managed to win (much to Ollie's disappointment).  The visa expires tomorrow so we're heading back to land and into Cambodia.
