Yesterday morning we were all pretty tired and had to drive Irish Phil to the airport as he was on his way home via Sydney. I explored what Cairns had to offer and quickly decided it wasn't much. Today was my birthday and I didn't have much planned as Alan was the only person I knew left in town. I did however happen to meet a girl in my dorm from London, Lucy, who was travelling with a French guy (Jeremy) and she was up for a few drinks this evening. During the day I had a BBQ on the esplanade, although the weather turned slightly miserable - very windy and a bit nippy (yes I think it dropped to 20 degrees!). Tonight I went to an interesting talk called 'Reef Teach' about the Great Barrier Reef then out to a club with Alan, Lucy and Jeremy and it was a poor night. I think the club was called 'Soho' and they offered us 2 4 1 drinks and free entry before 10pm and it was obviouys why - they had no customers (see the photo).
Decided to book a bus up to a little town called Port Douglas tomorrow to try and find work there as I can't imagine myself living in Cairns so fingers crossed it will be OK and not too hard to find a job.
