Yesterday I went to the tourist office to ask about car hire since I imagined I would be more flexible with a car.  The guy there told me to just use buses as I would end of staying in one place for more than1 day probably which was a waste of the car hire.  There didn't seem to be much I could do that wasn't active although I found a hostel on the East coast that has kayak hire which I can do so I'm looking to get the bus there tomorrow.

Went to the Salamanca market which was pretty cool - lots of craft and food stalls from different countries - very colourful place and I brought some amazing fudge!  Saw a cool band called Sounds of the Andes - basically some ex Chilleans playing the stuff I heard for my 3 months in South America, bongos, panpipes etc - I'm sure I recognised the track and began to realise that I liked the music and it was actually really cool!  It was great just sitting and listening so I gave them some gold coins as thanks for bringing back some great memories.  Chilled out for lunch in the little plaza near there and spent some money in Katmandu as they have a great sale on and I would have been crazy not to buy my self-inflating mattress - after Patagonia I'm never camping on thin foam again, plus it will come in handy if I want to crash on someone's floor!

Today I walked around the harbour and that was pretty much it, nothing too exciting.

Came across some strange guy in my hostel who asked about my leg then decided to preach to me that it was a warning from god telling me to stop and think about my life and where I'm going and what I'm doing etc - to be fair he may have been true but I'm already feeling pretty down about not being able to do any of the things that I enjoy and make me happy with my injury, plus this guy doesn't know me from Adam, doesn't know my religion so I was pretty upset that he thought he had the right to make me feel even crappier!

Hi Amanda!
Sorry that guy made you feel bad - maybe it was a warning from God to avoid strange guys in hostels! I hear you'll be seeing my (step) sister Sara soon - she is looking forward to it. We still have yet to make it out there - shame on us! We'd love to see you. Will you be coming to CA in your travels???
