What I did
Nong Ping 360
Re-traced our steps from the previous day (North Point - Central - Tung Chung Line). We went past the Sunny Bay station to Tung Chung.
We purchased tickets to the Cable Car Ride (with a return trip tix on the bus). This ride was fantastic. Vistas of Nong Ping Hill (360 degree they call it) and Airport. At the end of the ride, we go over a hill and saw the Giant Buddha and the Nong Ping Monastery from the top. Lovely view.
We alight from the cable car and walk down Nong Ping Village, a very scenic walk. We pass through an arch and hike up steep steps to the Giant Buddha. We take in some chips, juice and water, walk around the statue, visit the small museum (under the statue) and hike back down
The Giant Buddha seated atop the hill with the Lantau Peak in the background and the NP Monastery in the foreground makes for a serene spot to meditate and be one with nature. A lovely experience.
Once we're back down, we took the bus to Tai-O fishing village. Other than a pier and a view of the sound, nothing much to do or see in this place. There is a fish market that is not too exciting. We hopped on back the bus and returned to Tung Chung.
We take the train back to Central, walk to Exchange Square and took the bus 6A to The Peak. We hoped that this bus would stop at the Tram Station from where could take the Tram up to the Victoria Peak. We realized, within the first 10 min on board, that this bus was the direct service to The Peak (a.k.a Victoria Peak). This drive was also quite pleasant. Thambu slept through the entire ride, tired from the Nong Ping visit in the forenoon session.
The observation deck at the Peak was amazing and provided excellent day and night views of the city. ilamaaran (a.k.a thambu) chose to give The Peak a parting gift. Yes! his incisor tooth (left) that was troubling him all the way came undone and was promptly dropped off at The Peak. Yup..back to crunching and munching after three days of soft food.
We gave the much vaunted Tussaud's Wax Museum a miss since we were planning to visit the one in Pattaya, Thailand.
