We now need to get a "hitch" installed in the back of the truck (that we haven't paid for yet) so we can tow our 5th wheel (that we haven't paid for yet). The RV place has ordered the hitch but are unsure when it will arrive in Athens - many many hours later we learnt it came from Dallas - we could have picked it up!

We knew there was no point hanging around in Dallas so we took a slow cruise towards Athens. On the way we stopped in a little town for lunch, which had the old main street like you see in movies with the old "First National Bank" made of brick...very quaint.

Anyway onto Athens we drove. We got to the RV place hoping for some good news re money and hitch. No news on both fronts. In the end we decided to stay in a Motel 8 (read cheap) in Athens itself. We went to a Chinese buffet for dinner, only because we knew they'd have veggies as we were both so sick of fried food. The guy next to us, whose belly went from over the table to under the table, had a huge plate of meat, and nothing else. ugh.

Anyway went to Walmart once again (since they are open 24 hours) and stocked up on some essentials for the 5th wheel and the trip north.

Next morning we went back to RV place - no money yet and no hitch! We ended up doing a "walk through" with the guy from the RV place and he showed us how to use every possible thing in the 5th wheel, like the fridge, stove, slide outs, bbq etc. It took over 3 hours and we were exhausted by the end. Our money finally turned up in the RV guy's account but still no hitch and still no money for truck.

We told the RV guy we didn't want to pay more money for another night in a motel so he towed our new 5th wheel to the local campground for us while we went there before him.
He also showed us how to hook up the power and water etc and how to level the unit when you park. Mike and I took a well earned coffee in the 5th wheel, so good to actually have it now. That night we went back to the chinese buffet ($8 each) for some more veggies.

The next morning we left the 5th wheel where it was and headed back to the RV place, hoping the hitch had turned up. Two of the staff left at the crack of dawn and drove to Dallas and picked another hitch up, and then returned to Athens for us, which was great. The install of the hitch only took a few hours, and then yay! The truck money had gone in too so we were ready to hit the road.

So we headed back to the campground, hooked up our 5th wheel (luckily a guy came over to help as we didn't really know what to do!) and we hit the road abut lunch time.

It felt great to be actually heading north at last, I knew the storage place in Buffalo we were heading to closed on Saturdays at 5pm and we needed to be there before then as our flight out was 6am next morning (Sunday). It was now Wednesday and we had a heap of miles to drive.
