Not sure how to use this but will just go for it.
I flew up to Auckland from Wellington to meet Mike. No dramas that I can remember, and walked around to the international terminal to wait. Mike arrvied well in time and checked in. We cruised up to the departure lounge and took off at 9pm. Qantas service was great - excellent food and plenty of it. The only hassle was the lack of space. Luckily the guy at the end of our road moved somewhere else so we cold put all our junk on the seat in the middle. It was weird waking up at 3am (NZ time) and opening the blnid, and seeing blazing sun outside.
We got to LA - could literally see the smog as we flew through it - and got a bus from where the bus landed to the main terminal. The customs was really fast (contrary to what I had heard) but the biggest wait was our bags on the carousel!
We went outside and walked down to the South Western terminal to catch our flight to Las Vegas. Having trouble making people understand us, even ordering coffee at Star Bucks had to repeat what I wanted - he didn't even understand me saying tall as in cup (the smallest size - even bigger than McDs largest cup!). Having to take our shoes off to go through the x-ray machine felt weird.
We bought some pretzels at Las Vegas airport - massive and soft and delicious. Best I have ever had. Flight to Vegas extremely bumpy, everyone clapped when we landed. Very brown outside, brown everywhere. From the air Vegas looks bigger than Auckland.
The flight on to Dallas was no problems and we landed about 6pm I think. We managed to get the hotel shuttle to the hotel and checked in. No coffee in the rooms! First time I have seen that one. It was to be repeated in other hotels too - you have to go to reception to get coffee.
