Picked up our Dodge Ram truck in Buffalo - seeing some of the poorer areas of town, which was an eye opener. We drove back to Niagara, and then went across the Rainbow Bridge to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Apart from the wait to get across the bridge it was easy to get from the U.S to Canada, and another stamp in our passports. A pretty steady fall of rain by that stage.

We drove right along the length of the falls road looking for a parking spot, but everything was $18! So we turned around and went back to a parking lot that we noticed before turning onto the main tourist road $8(for those who want to go to the falls, this lot is within very easy walking distance of Maid of the Mist etc) - on Hiram St, opposite Michael's Inn & behind the big Inside Bird Aviary. We headed along the road towards the Maid of the Mist boat departure. Beautiful views of both the American & horseshoe falls, and lovely clean road & shops etc - not tacky and dirty which was my impression of the U.S side.

We didn't have to wait long to get on the Maid of the Mist boat, and we were each given a blue rain poncho, so we all looked like Smurfs. We decided to stand on the lower deck of the boat, and the views were magnificent - we could hear the people on the upper deck squealing as we went closer to the falls, as lots of water sloshed down the stairs - they must have got soaked! We went past the American falls, and fairly close to the Horseshoe falls, thought it was hard to tell becuase of all the mist. After the ride we had a coffee at an outside seating area that overlooked the falls - what an amazing view to enjoy while we drank.
