Flew int San Jose the evening of Day 1...The city was dirty, smoggy and overcrowded. We stayed at the Hotel Europa. It is the oldest hotel in the city. Let me repeat that...it is the OLDEST hotel in the city.Sara woke up with her sinuses aching from all the dirt/dust. So on Day 2 we were happy to wake up early and hop into the van that would be taking us out of the city and into the countryside.

Upon leaving in the van we quickly started to see the beauty of Costa Rica. The tropical forests and rainforests surround you on all sides. The roads are small and the cars drive fast without much attention to road signs. We take our first break in Sarchi. Its an artists town where everything and I mean everything is painted with intricate designs right down to the curbs on the streets.

This town is a huge coffee growing community. They grow Arabica coffee and to smell and taste it fresh picked is unbelievable Coffee fields as far as the eye can see. The ox cart and wheel are a huge symbol b/c that is how the coffe was transported from the mountains in Sarchi down to the Pacific Ocean. You see brightly painted ox carts everywhere.

We hop back in the van and continue on to Tabacon Hot Springs...
