05 August Tuesday
Got up at 0800 and after our usual breakfast decided to follow the Schevenroute.
It passes by the bottom of the lane that leads to the farm where the caravan is parked.. When we got to Poperinge. we had a look in the local bike shop but it was closed, so could only stare at the many splendid bikes through the windows.
We then picked up the Fletenaroute. ( 47K ), it circles round north of Poperinge through some very nice villages.
The are some strange people around!! ( see the photos ).
Not only strange gardens but some have their own fire engines!!
Whilst I was stopped to take the photo of the second fire engine I heard a couple of dogs barking, it was only then that I realised the entrance gate was wide open!!!!
Sure enough out they came charging straight at me. Luckily I have had my own dogs most of my life and get on quite well with them. These two turned out to be quite friendly and as I was stroking the older one , they looked like mother and son to me, the owners came out to see what all the noise was about.
They called the dog's and they ran back inside so all was OK.
When we got back to Poperinge it was time to eat so we had hot apple tart with cream and ice cream for a snack ( just like the Millionaires but no custard !!! ), before heading back to the caravan..
We left Poperinge and followed the Schevenroute once more as it is a circler route it took us back to the caravan .
Total distance for the day 96K.
More Chicken Pasta and a bottle of Australian Chardonnay for our supper.
