Today we spent another relaxing day at the beach. This time we took the boat across to the private island owned by the Aitutaki Lagoon and Spa Resort. There we spent the day posing as guests so that we could use their beach. The lagoon is GORGEOUS! Just as beautiful as the brochures. The colors of aquamarine, turquoise and azure blue were exposed by the depth and shallowness of the land under the water. We struck up conversations with some of the housekeepers and checked out the overwater bungalows. The bungalows roofs need help. They were almost blown away and in disrepair. We found out from the staff that the new owners of the resort are slowly repairing the roofs. We also noticed that there seemed to be a lack of life to the resort. We found out that the management does not want the staff to mingle with the locals/staff. We found that very sad since the heart of the island is it's local people. As such, the resort seemed lifeless as an empty shell, no matter how beautiful it was. Still, we enjoyed our day and Jim is feeling much more relaxed.
