We spent most of the day collecting and filtering veggie oil and filling up the truck with veggie oil, for fuel, wow, a full tank, for free! Just for the asking, and we got to bring awareness to people about converting diesel into veggie oil as a cheaper and eco friendlier source for combustible. Well, we left for the mountains towards Durango, a historical town full of heroic stories, and battles, and ghosts. A place where John Wayne made movies, and Hollywood framed the old west. I was now ready to venture out on my own, to experience Mexico "Alma style". so Zanne went on her way and I on mine. I found a nice clean hotel in the middle of town for about 15 dollars a night, I decided, Christmas in Durango, alone, why not, let's see what comes. Christmas eve, I decided I would go out for a walk, then find a church and attend a Christmas eve mass. My old Catholic roots, were screaming for some praising and Alleluias!
I found a cathedral, near the main plaza, and walked in a mass already in progress, must have been a bishop or something saying mass, cuz there were pointy hats and kissing of rings on the celebrants hands.
I sat casually and comfortably observing the mass and the parishioners. I was so entertained! The feeling here was of such somber mood, the Bishop person was boring, the cast and crew on the alter was fidgeting, the audience was bored and tired, I was wondering, If Jesus were to come back, and see these people, on HIS BIRTHDAY! Looking like castigated children being forced to sit still, He would be disappointed and disgusted! Think of these somber, penitent, guilt ridden people coming to your birthday party! YUCK! Communion time, ah communion, the catholic symbol of unity with Christ, in his body in the form of bread. People lined up, but only the ones in a state of grace and perfection, which means they already went to confession with some priest to hear and absolve their sins. People were looking down with their heads, hands folded in pious judgment of those who did not get up to receive in total grace, some girls were even texting before receiving the lord into their mouths, and with cell phone in hand made the sign of the cross and semi genuflected to someone or something somewhere.
The time to give alms to the church, some people giving more than they had, some giving what little they had, some giving so others can see, I saw one person dropping a hundred pesos in the basket, while the sidewalk leading to the church was filled with children with no hopes for a gift or a toy, or anything nice for Christmas, some women were begging for alms right in side the church while people lined up to kiss a plastic model of the baby Jesus who was lain in the manger at the alter. Kissing the holy plastic baby Jesus made them feel holy I think while they shooed away the mentally ill beggar woman. I felt sad for Jesus, I hope he had a better birthday celebration in heaven, with some happy people.
I met a woman at the plaza she was nice, an older woman in her 60’s, a dance teacher from Puerto Rico here with her husband for a month and she was telling me how he just ignores her and leaves her alone in the hotel room while he goes out all day with his friend and doesn’t give her money, and just seems annoyed at her existence. She was lovely, interesting, charming, and delightful, they had been married 35 years. Ah, it made me wonder about marriage, and the silliness of it. Really a prison robbing us of our free will. In the name of God and covenant and other legal, religious baloney. I still think marriage should be totally abolished. Till death do us part is so morbid, really. I rather be till we want to be apart. Simple huh. I’m a simple girl.
I kept walking around town , it was quite rambunctious and busy, lots of hustle and bustle going on, nearing 11pm, a bit cooler now, I saw women with their children some of them no more than two years old, laying on the sidewalk , while mom set up a cart to sell tacos or gorditas for the after midnight mass crowd. These moms, saw only the financial possibility of making some money for feeding their children, not for gaining a huge amount of capital , but for hopefully making a little more than usually for a days hard work. This Christmas, was intense for me, I was alone, yet surrounded by so many in need, so many asleep to the reality of humanity, of God’s seemingly easy request, “Be Peaceful and Kind” help each other, we are all connected, be there for each other, do what is right, and do what is right in front of you, Appreciate what you have, give to others, think less of yourself, Jesus was quoted as saying, “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers.. That, you do unto me.” So simple, give to others, as you would give to Christ Himself, He was called all kinds of crazy. Denied so much human kindness, and seen with such hatred, yet he was a kind and loving man, The soul of Christ is here now, in everyone of us, treat all human beings as you would the soul of Christ, you never know where it is hidden, or in whom.
I am non religious, I read many books, meditate and follow council from wise and holy people.
God is a Spirit, It has no hands, when you place something in the hands of God, stretch out your hands and say, “these are the hands of God.” They are here to do God’s will.

I like your blog,Totally interesting also extraordinary blog.Give more pictures related to this topic. Thanks for sharing this wonderful detail.
You're obviously having a great trip in Mexico. I am struck, though, by your judgmental nature. I've read many of your posts, and they all seem to devolve into your analysis of the failure of others to measure up to your standards of what they ought to be doing and thinking. You really project a lot of your internal "stuff" onto the behavior of others, and then you analyze that and find them lacking. You're quoting Jesus. Do you remember that thing about judging? Judge not...? Remember that?
