From Bocas Maggie and I got into different boast, she returned to San Jose, Costa Rica to catch her flight home. :( I continued on my on to Boquettes in the moutains in Panama. Nights and mornings were cool. It was a nice break from the heat. I went hiking in the cloud forest, so beautiful. I also went on a tour of a coffee plantation. Who knew? It was a super interesting process, I really had no idea of what was behind one of my favorite morning beverages. The coffee plantation was different than I expected. Coffee tree live to over 90years old. Who knew? Here the farm was full of coffe plant but also full of orage trees, yucca, squash, beans, and tonnes of other plants. It all contributes to balanced soil.
From the mountains I traveled to Panama City. This is a big north american style city. Tall skyscrapers, malls, fast food joints - the works. I spent a day walking around seeing the sights, the old part of the city, the ruins of the original spanish city, riding a bike on the causeway. Another day I spent visiting the Panama Canal. The Pacific end of the canal is right outside Panama City. They have a big museum and visitors center with info on the history and making of the canal and a big observatory deck to watch the ships pass. Really cool. I spent my last day in the city at the beach.
From Panama city I will start my trek home, by land, mostly bus, maybe a boat or two. So until next time... Take care!
