Day 1:
States covered = Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky (a new one for Paul, his 41st, Abby's 7th)
Miles covered = Approx 425
Weather: Raining on and off
Abby Meltdowns: 0
Highlights: West Virginia State Capitol Building in Charleston, WV, Noah's Ark being built in West Virginia
Stay over: Hampton Inn, Ashland, Kentucky (Trivia Question: Ashland Kentucky is the birth place of what country music stars? Hint, there are multiple answers)

After Paul finished the world class packing of the Odyssey, we departed Silver Spring at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Abby could hardly contain her excitement at the Journey ahead of her...she fell asleep before we were on the Beltway.

We took Route 70 across Maryland, stopped in Cumberland to feed Abby and Mom and Dad Then across the West Virginia line to Charleston where we stopped for a walk around the Capitol Building grounds and to let Abby play and enjoy a little al fresco milk dinner on the lawn. Then we docked for the night in Ashland, Kentucky where Abby enjoyed playing and kicking in her first motel room ever.

Not too many thrills for the day, but we made it and we are even ready for day 2.

Travelling kooks!
Where are you taking my Godchild! Please tell her that she should have been next to her Mommy when she was standing by the King. We leave for Canada on Friday for 17 days. I hope we can celebrate Paul's birthday and eat crabs when you all get back.
Enjoy your trip.
