On the ground in Japan, we passed through customs, a swine-flu check point, and an immigration check point, we met with Mrs. Yamanka and took a bus to the hotel. The hotel is quite lavish, though quite western. It seems like a good cultural acclimatization point.
The toilets, however, can only be described as decidedly non-Western. Google image "japanese toilets" and you might understand the confusion.
Also, I wanted to say that I have been unable to post pictures from the flight and hotel because I have been shooting in "raw" instead of "jpeg," which normally wouldn't be a problem, but since I don't have a photoeditor at my disposal, the site won't read the pictures directly off my camera. No fear! I have changed my camera to .jpeg and will begin adding pictures to these entries as soon as possible.
