Venezuela Fast Facts:
Official Name: Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
Located: Northern coast of South America
Population: 26.5 million (2007 estimate)
Currency used: Bolivars
Exchange rate for $1.00 varies greatly: between 2.15 and 5.5 Bolivars
Capital: Caracas
Famous for: Oil Exporter, Simon Bolivar and beauty queens!
Flag's colors are yellow, blue and red. Yellow stands for wealth, blue for courage and red for independence from Spain.
I am not planning to stay in Venezuela for more than a few days... a week at best because it is one of the most dangerous countries in South America. My dad came here for business and he told me that his company would NOT allow him to go out on his own. He had to be accompanied by someone to "protect" him! Don't worry... like I told my dad- I am only going to a town called, Merida which is said to be safe by Venezuelan standards and then I am going straight back to Colombia!
