Cartagena is truly a fairy-tale city where one can get caught up and lost in the romance, myths and the picturesque beauty of it all. The historical town is where they filmed most of the 80's film, "Romancing the Stone." Although I hate to burst the bubble... there were NO viracious crocodiles to be seen! :) Although there are TONS of emeralds to be seen- and all at low, low prices!
The entire historical section looks like it could be a lot in Universal Studios- with horse drawn carriages, beautiful homes, shops and galleries almost all with balconies decked in lush green foliage and flowers... and not a single piece of garbage!
I am loving the loud music that blares into the streets late at night- live bands that heat up the already humid nights... I went dancing at a Cuban bar down the street with some friends until 4am... and I am pooped!
