San Agustin is simply the most beautiful place I have seen here in South America so far.  The landscape is the greenest green you can imagine- there isn't a crayola crayon in the world that can compare! :)  There are more birds, butterfiles and other wing-ed creatures to capture your attention... waterfalls abound and rivers are everywhere you turn.  The farms boast all sorts of fantastic vegetation from loo loo fruit to coffee to coca.

The people here are so hospitable- always offering a kind word or at the very least a warm and heartfelt smile.  The hostel in which I am staying is owned and managed by the most endearing woman and her family.  She brings me banans and assorted fruits from the garden out back all day long!

I love this small town and could stay for another couple of weeks if I had the time... but the Caribbean Coast is calling my name and it is a LONG road to Cartagena- so I will leave tomorrow morning.

btw- San Agustin is best known in Colombian for the stone statues that are found throughout their lush mountains, dramatic canyons all surrounded by this ghostly mist.  There are over 500 statues throughout this area.  Very little is known about the San Agustin people that left behind these monumnets honoring the dead because they didn't have a written language and disappeared centuries before the Europeans arrived.
