To all my adoring fans out there, I apologize for the delay in blogging!  This last week was intense and busy, and every minute of online time is spent searching for jobs or talking to loved ones.  BUT, here is what happened in my life from September 6-13...

Monday-Tuesday was full of lesson planning.  We had two lessons this week, one on Wednesday and the other on Thursday.  Wednesday was another vocab day, and Thursday was on skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening).  You would think after having already done a lesson I would feel more confident in my lesson planning, but for some reason I had a ton of problems coming up with plans this week.  For vocab I had my students learn words associated with "recipe" and their last project was to write down their favorite recipe using words they learned.  I taught at 6 at night, and both groups came up with dessert items, so naturally I was starving during my critique.  I thought I had done horrible, but apparently I am just so dang hard on myself.  Thursday was the same, although it did go a lot worse than the day before.  I had elementary for the first time, so my lesson should have been simplified, but I still passed.  Luciano was in my class, which I was worried would be awkward but was ok.  Although, I did get a text from him later saying he had tickets to Patty Smith...I don't even know who that is.  If it was Coldplay I may have said yes but since it wasn't...just kidding.  I still am getting crap for being "attracted to older men."  I'll probably never live that down.

Somewhere along this past week I realized I'm not the teacher type.  I don't enjoy it.  I love learning about teaching, and I am totally capable of teaching, but I don't like it.  I would rather learn about it than do it myself.  So now I'm lost.  What do I do after the next two weeks are over?  I came out here to teach English, now that I don't plan on doing that, what do I do?  I've been fighting with myself over and over about what the right thing to do is, and so far neither side has had a winning argument.  I will say that "Eat, Pray, Love" is my absolute favorite book and the author has touched me so much to the point that I cried when I finished it today.  If you have not read this book, get out right now and buy it because it will touch you on levels you didn't know you had.  At least if you're me that is what will happen.

On Thursday night I went to Bar Amadeus again and spent three and a half hours talking with Ben over Skype.  It was late for me and around noon for him, so we ate our meals together, which was so cool.  Technology is so freakin amazing.  Too bad I don't have any of it at home.  I guess the landlord finallly caved and is installing internet, but on the second to last day of our lease.  Friday was fun, we had our now weekly class party at the girls house, and the theme was "Fiesta".  We had lots of Mexican yumminess and got home late.  Early the next morning Anita, John and I bought a train ticket to Viareggio to go to the beach and met another classmate there after his Italian class.  There were what seemed likes miles of beach, but the only free part was a sliver about 20' wide, squished up against the rocks and pier, with the nastiest water of the whole shore.  But it felt so nice to be on a beach, even though I did have Italian peddlers constantly asking me if I'd like "nice necklace", even when I was laying there with my eyes closed.  HELLO, I'm obviously trying to sleep here!  I need to learn how to say that in Italian.  I caught a cold so I went to bed early, and woke up today feeling much better.  John, Meghan and I went to church at the Duomo...yes you heard that right, the DUOMO, which was pretty cool.  I caught an amazing and probably illegal picture of the inside of the dome, and we sat in the second pew, just feet away from the priest.  He was talking before the service and pointed at us and asked if we were American.  Apparently we just scream "tourist!".  We had gone earlier to hear some Gregorian chants but were at the wrong entrance so we went to the later service.  It was all in Italian so I have no idea what was said, but it's Catholic so I had a general idea of when to cross myself and whatnot.  The boys and I, Meghan, and the girls went to a football game (NOT soccer) and got poured on.  I had bought a Fiorentino scarf earlier so I used that to cover myself, but still got soaking wet.  Despite the fact that for the past 2 weeks when I've been stuck indoors it's been nothing but sunny and the one day we need it to be nice it rains, the game was fun to watch, even though I don't know the rules and didn't know what was being yelled around me (although I had a clue...let's just say there was lots of f-bombs being dropped in Italian)

So that is my life in a week in a nutshell.  I miss writing here!  When stuff happens I imagine how I would write about it in my blog.  Some of my classmates have found my blog, so now I have to be careful about what I say about them!  (Kidding guys...)  I want to write more, but I don't have much time left, and my battery is dying.  But the place I am at right now is pretty amazing, it's called The Diner, and it is like a little slice of America dropped smack dab in the middle of Florence.  I'm drinking a chocolate milkshake as I write :)  But I will try writing again later this week, sometime amidst the lesson planning for the two lessons this week and trying to find a job.  Good luck to me.
