We started out by driving 1 1/2 hours from Sapa to Lao Cai which is a boarder crossing to China. From there we had an interesting ride to the market. There was one part where we had 3 tries to get up the road. There was again so much rain that there was a mudslide so all the cars and vans trying to go up just slide back down.
The market itself was really nice. There were a lot of locals and Vietnamese tourists. There was a different type of minority village that was there, different from what we saw in Sapa. They looked more like colorful Peruivian women. One really cool thing that I saw were women cutting their long hair and selling it. They would get around 400,000 dong which is around $20 USD but thats also the amount that most people earn in one month here. I had a really nice time and eate some really interesting foods. I'm not sure exactly what I ate, but I think something was made from sweet potato... I think.
I'm now back in Lo Cai waiting for my night train back to Hanoi. I had a really nice time in Sapa and going to the market. I highly suggest that people come and see it! :)
Hope your all having a great summer.
