This was our guesthouse in Bermuda the room we stayed in was across the street and we had our own semi-private yard and private table that got the morning, breakfast sun
As the island of Bermuda is very small, space is a hugely valuable asset and it is certainly not wasted on unnecessarily large roadways. All of the roads were small and windy with no shoulders or sidewalks. If you are lucky you will have a bus stop that has a pull out for the bus but mostly along the roads there is just a blue pole and you stand pressed up against the bushes hoping the bus comes before you get hit!
Elbow beach which is ranked as the second best on the island was just a five minute walk from where we were staying and there is no need for me to describe it in words - the pictures are incredible:
The Crystal Caves were discovered by two boys who were playing cricket on the field above and lost their ball. They lowered themselves into the hole with rope and a small latern and discovered the natural cave. It was about two hundred feet below ground and quite an amazing site. The pictures don't really do it justice but I loved it! The water is perfectly still and clear and the reflection looked like a city skyline, some of the formations that hung from the ceiling looked like chandeliers and others were hundreds of thousands of years old like the fully formed column.
We tried both of the traditional drinks the Rum and Swizzle and the Dark and Stormy. We tried the rum and swizzle and its place of invention - the Swizzle Inn where the saying is you swizzle in and swagger out!
So much more to say but it takes a long time to upload pictures so you'll have to wait until my next visit to the Internet. Tomorrow is my big visit to Lloyd's and I'm more excited than a little girl the night before Christmas! Ta ta for now!
