The weather was beautiful all weekend, we had a stunning day in Blenheim cycling around the wineries! And yesterday in Picton it was equally as gorgeous.
We had a nice walk along the waterfront and along the marina, we saw the inter islander come in from Wellington three hours away on the north island and had a look around the few small shops that Picton offers.

We walked back out into the street and were greeted with not only blue skies and burning hot sun, but float upon float making their way along the streets, with absolutley scores of people everywhere - we had walked into the middle of the Picton Santa Parade!

Of course, we stood there and joined in with the crowds watching! People were dressed as Father Christmas, and there were even 2 dogs getting in the spirit all dressed up! It seemed the whole town and all the tourists had crammed into the centre of town to watch this, which happens in most Kiwi towns and cities at this time of year, and its a huge event. Everyone was having fun, it was exactly like carnivals at home in the olden days, unfortunatley we dont seem to have them anymore but oh yes they do here in New Zealand. It was fun to watch, but a bit bizzare watching a Christmas Parade in the heat!! They even have all the same songs we do - feed the world and all that!

Today we had planned to go out and visit the Marlborough sounds, but weather is raining and the visibility wouldnt be good so we decided to chill out and give it a miss.
Tommorow we are heading towards Nelson and the Abel Tasman National Park. By the time you all wake up and get this email you will find some nice piccies uploaded on the NZ pages!

Hugs
