So our first 10 days have passed like a shot, its so strange being stuck in the same place for so long! We have been endlessly handing out our CV'S and applying for jobs in the city, to be honest its hard, we are in competition with other working holiday makers, kiwi students and locals, and the fact that our work permits are only valid for 12months seems to put some people off! Ive had an interview and diddnt get the job and Matts done a trial run in a restaurant and we havent heard anything from that either!

So, really we have been going into the city every day, handing out the cvs and filling in forms, we bought a car - an old 1989 Mitsibishi thing, its actually really nice to drive and even though it sounds ancient compared to cars in the UK, here there are loads of older cars. We are probably about to go and get a tent (another thing we have been looking at!) so that we can camp and save money, a hostel eats into your bank balance after a while!

We may have to leave Christchurch and either head onto the north island to Auckland which is much bigger, and from the ads online and in the paper there is tons more work up there, or we are toying with the idea of fruit picking! mmmm....we shall see!

On a more brighter note, we have been enjoying the stunning Cathedral Square and the cooler weather, over the weekend the weather was pretty poor and we ventured out to the Arts Centre - a really old building withs small shops and things inside, outside there was a craft market which we enjoyed, and then we wandered back into the city.

Its so relaxed here, the way of life is so different to ours in the UK, and even though we havent been out and seen the scenery and stuff much yet, if you look down the end of the highstreet on a cloudy day all you see are clouds, on a clear day its green rolling hills and the city stretches up it....We shall go out and maybe take the Gondola to Mount Cavendish which offers beautiful views over the city, also the Banks Peninsula is only an hour or so away where we can see Akaroa a franco town, there are penguins and a seal colony around there too....

Thats all for now...

By The way - piccies have been uploaded on all pages from Brisbane - I hadnt realised how long it had been since we put some up! Enjoy them as much as we have...

Hugs
