When we arrived we already had reserved somewhere on the internet, but upon arrival it was literally in the sticks! And even though the room was out of this world (im talking rain shower, open air bathroom and stone basin!) we moved elsewhere because it was just too secluded.
We moved to a hotel on the beach, we have a seaview, huge balcony, proper hotel room, satellite tv (yes...the merseyside derby is on this weekend!)there is a pool, this morning we were served a delicious big brekkie....all for less than 20quid a night, in the high season its double and more!
Ko Lanta is a big island compared to Ko PP, its green and mountainous, its a Muslim island as was Ko PP and it was unusual to hear the call to prayer from the mosque, to see the men in sarongs and the women with headcoverings again, the beaches are long and white, we will be here for 4 more nights before we move on into Malaysia.
Ko Phi Phi was AMAZING, shall post piccies when we can, we took a boat trip to a beach which is known as Monkey Beach - yep - there were loads of monkeys, some splashing about in the water...just hilarious! Then we spent a few hours on the glorious white sands and laying around in the totally clear waters on Bamboo Island, a small lunch of rice and cucumber and some fresh fruit later, we headed to Ko Phi Phi Leh, which is where the film the beach was made....as one of my favourite films i couldnt wait to see Maya Bay, and it felt so weird when we actually got there, first of all we had to scramble through caves and water to get to it, and when we finally arrived it was so strange....it is one of the few places which is exactly as it is shown in the film, white sands, turquoise seas...stunning. We ate some delicious seafood in the restaurants there, and then when we felt we had done and seen what we needed to we jumped on the ferry for Ko Lanta, which despite what some travel agents, touts and guidebooks may tell you, does actually run in low season...just not every day...its every second day instead.
Thats all for now, just a quick jumbled message....!!
