Our first reminder that we are now much closer to the sun was yesterday after spending the entire day baking on a beautiful Chilean beach and coming out looking like lobsters. A painful experience that will undoubtedly teach us to wear more sunscreen.
From Santiago we took a bus two hours North to the delightful little town of Concon. Set right on the beach this is a popular destination for Santiaguans looking to escape the city and the odd tourist here for the incredible seafood. However being less of a tourist destination than Santiago, English-speaking people are much more rare and non-spanish speaking people (such as ourselves) are much less tolerated. We have been very lucky in that the people we have come in contact with have been wonderfully patient and understanding.
Tomorrow we leave for Pucon. Nestled between a beautiful lake and one of the worlds most active volcanoes, this place promises adventure. Stay tuned!
