And by official I am not just talking about the first day of spring. A few days ago Chris and I accepted summer positions with Sunwapta Falls Resort (www.sunwapta.com) just 55km south of Jasper. Chris will be working with the maintenance team and I will be on the front desk. (So if you ever have a need to call the resort mine just might be the voice on the other end!) We will be living ever so cheaply in the onsite staff accommodation and using every free minute to bike, hike or whatever around the area.

As for things in Fernie it is amazing what a change one week has brought. When I wrote my last entry I admittedly had utterly given up hope that the season could be salvaged. (I was literally wearing sandles as I typed the entry!) Well apparently The Griz was not offended by my lose of faith. We awoke on St. Patrick's Day to a fresh dumping of 40 cms up on the hill. (Luck of the Irish....quite possible) So we have managed to get in a couple of good days on the hill. Skiing in fresh powder is sooooooo much harder on the leg muscles than what I have been used to this season. My legs were killing by the end of the day and I fell...alot. But not to worry since the snow was so soft it was like falling into the fluffiest (and biggest) pillow you ever saw.

We took a few little road trips during our hiatus from the hill. We checked out a nearby mini resort which was supposed to have had 26 cm of fresh snow. When we got there not only was there not much new snow but the place wasn't even open. But that didn't stop us from having a few runs down the hill and trekking back up to the top to go again. (Who ever said downhill skiing couldn't be a good workout?!?!) We also took a trip to the next town over to see the world's biggest truck. (We had to find some way to fill our days!)

That is about all for now. Our time in Fernie is quickly coming to an end and we will shortly be revving up the van for a road trip to Vancouver Island before heading up to Jasper to start our new jobs.
