Okay, this actually has to be quick cuz I'm at an internet cafe. Quick recap: pit-stopped in Tobago for a day, fueled up, went running along the beach to try and save my withering muscles, back on the boat and set sail for Guyana at about 10pm.
The expected treacherous voyage couldn't have been more oposite of what we experienced. The seas were so flat and calm that we could go fishing (Adam caught a huge tuna that we ate for lunch). The days were long and boring, as were the nights - not even any boats to steer around. Better to calm than to crazy, I guess. I filmed some dolphins swimming with us. Eventually I'll see about uploading it, not sure if that's possible. The pictures didn't really come out.
Anyway we got to the mouth of the Esquibbo (or something) river in Guyana, then had another day's journey up the river to Bartica. Bartica is interesting, with donkeys and bulls roaming the streets, giant (and I mean giant - like 4-inch diameter) beetles that crawl up Sina's leg, and a hospital that looks more like a run-down school, complete with "WELCOME" signs hand written with one letter per piece of paper. The people have been nice so far. We're heading down river a bit today, eventually going to explore Georgetown, and then I'm probably leaving the boat to take on another adventure. I'll keep you posted (as much as I can). I miss everyone! And sidewalks!
