From Alice's Diary,
" What a fantastic day. Of course started the day off with breakfast but I had been up earlier to have my coffee and ciggy and this is the time that I sit down in the coffee room and get my diary up to date. At 8.30am we got the call to come on deck as we were sailing into Passau. What a wonderful sight, the little town on the banks with the mountains in the back ground. It is hard to put on paper and describe what we can see. We are so lucky to see all these beautiful things. At 9.30 we went on a walking tour around Passau and of course the church. St. Stevens it is an awesome church but to be quite honest I am a little over churches. However really enjoyed the town and our guide was great with a very good sense of humour. At 11.30 we went back to the church and listened to an organ recital from 12 to 12.30. The pipe organ is the biggest Cathedral organ in the world and it has between 17,000 and 18,000 pipes. What a great sound, Mac was able to put some of it on video although it wasn't allowed and he was tapped on the shoulder but managed to get most of it. Back to the boat for lunch and then much to the amusement of Mac and Kevin, Lois and I decided to go on a 3 hour bike ride along the river Inn (no we don't have any photos to upload but Mac has 45 seconds of Video at the start ...........). We rode all the way to Austria which was on the other side of the river and then came back over a bridge further down the line back into Germany. The scenery was something else and so peaceful. When we got back into Germany there was a picnic area and a long table all set up with meat, pretzels, gherkins and drinks for everybody. Lois got off her bike but her legs were like jelly so landed on her knees poor thing but all I could do was laugh. This was not a time for praying. We made it back to the ship feeling very proud of ourselves and had a brandy and dry on arrival. A nice hot shower and felt as good as new. We have got a lovely lot of friends and at dinner made up a table of 8 Kevin and Lois, Betsy and Noel, Bill and Anna and Mac and I. Another great day over and looking forward to tomorrow when we will be arriving in Regensburg where I will be doing shopping. Think we will have to buy another suitcase to bring everything home."
