From Alice's diary
" Leaving Rome happened without any drama. We were picked up at 7 by private car and were driven to the airport at 150 kilometres an hour along some freeway. Airports are the same all over the world and we seem to do better at airports then railway stations. Found where we had to book in without any trouble and proceeded to our gate. A few hours later we landed at Budapest. How exciting. We were met at the airport and taken by bus to our floating hotel. "The River Empress". Once we arrived there we didn't have to do anything else. Our luggage was taken on board and to our cabin, all we had to do was book in and go to our cabin, which will be our home for 14 days. It was great to unpack, hang up the clothes and put the cases under the bed. Everything is provided. The rest of the day we just lazed around, it was raining so not much fun on deck but that really didn’t matter as we found the lounge where you can sit and relax and have a drink if you want to. Alcohol is the only thing we have to pay for except with dinner. Coffee and tea 24 hours a day and that suits me as I am always awake early so can go and have my cup of tea well and truly before the restaurant opens for breakfast. Also caught up on some washing. At 6 o’clock we were welcomed by the captain in the lounge and then proceeded to the restaurant for our 4 course dinner. We have already met some lovely people, quite a few from Australia. Went to bed early and slept like a log."
