Tomorrow will my final full day here in Udaipur and I can truly say that I will miss it here. I love this city and wish I could afford more time here.
I will miss...
-the people; for once, the people seem to be genuine and every conversation is in good fun and friendship.
-the town is shanty shanty (slow/peaceful, slow/peaceful); everyone enjoys life. It is rare that people will put earning your money over good conversation.
-Nirwal; his love for life and his philosophy and beliefs (live and enjoy life, money will come and go, but you only --spending all day in Nirwals shop with Farid and Laure; just talking and drinking chai
-Akshay; the City Palace guide; actually, all the City Palace guides who have helped me get in free to use the toilet (which is relatively cleaner than others) and for all of their probing questions about my life which lead to many great conversations
-Lokesh, the rickshaw driver; for the interesting conversations
-the chance meeting with Farida, who offered me a room in her guest house for half the price of the hotel I was first staying in and especially for her fresh homecooked dinners, which didn't leave me feeling sick
-eating take away food out of newspaper and plastic baggies (chappatis, papadums, samosas etc are wrapped in 'clean' newspapers and all liquids are put in little sandwhich bags
-riding on motorbikes
-sleeping on the rooftop
-the scenery; City Palace, Monsoon Palace, Tiger Lake, Lake Pichola
Until next time, Udaipur.
