The weather was glorious during the weekend here! It was cloudy on Saturday but Sunday was hot and sunny! We got up with the intention of going to n Manly to hang out on the beach for the day however when we got to circular quay we saw the queue for the ferry stretching back around the railway station. Rather than bake in a queue for an hour and a half (It looked like three boats worth of people - taking a boat every half hour) we decided to hop on one of the buses to another beach. We ended up choosing Maroubra, which is the next beach south from Coogee.

As it turns out, it was a great choice! The beach is probably as big as Bondi but without any of the posers. It's a nice underdeveloped beach with the south tip ending in a headland. The lack of big development may be due to the rifle range on said headland and also it's proximity to the airport. Overall the area had a nice family friendly feel and we heard more Aussies on the beach than other city beaches. Also to the north is nice walking along low stony cliffs which offered a great view north towards Coogee, Bronte and Bondi. The photos didn't come out the greatest as a haze had begun to settle in the late afternoon...
