Sunday 12/09/10

Today we headed out to Bondi for the annual kite flying "festival of the winds". I'd never been to a kite festival so no time like the present. Also it was a gorgeous day, with the sun out and finally the cold breeze had let up.

We hung out on the beach where areas were cordoned off for the huge kite type things... A lot of them were ocean themed and were huge, stingray, octopus, fish, starfish. Also there was Dino from the Flintstones and Felix the Cat (who I had forgotten about!)

There was also a workshop to make your own kite and hundreds of people had brought along their own kites to fly too. It was really nice. The invisible twine was a danger to the taller people though!

After having our fill of kites we sat and relaxed on the sand until the cold breeze picked up again. We decided to finally do the complete Bondi to Coogee walk. It's a pretty nice long stroll and not strenuous at all. The views are pretty. I have I suppose seen better but I know this is probably one of the more sedate vistas in Australia. Still it's definitely worth doing at least once.

The Bondi to Bronte is probably the most scenic part of the trail. Though Coogee itself has a really nice and laid back sea side feel. Bronte is small and snug making it the least commercial of the trio. Now if only the sea was warmer so we could go swimming without getting hypothermia...
