So Bryan's working away now during the week which leaves me with time to explore the city on my lonesome.
On Monday I headed to the Domain & Botanical Gardens with my camera this time. I took a few photo's of the wildlife. Not sure what the big beaked birds are but the lovely looking white parrot type things are the annoying cockatoo! They are incredibly raucous, like crows from home with loudspeakers! I have only seen one crow/rook bird here. It didn't sound like a crow, more like Joe Pasquale saying "ow, ow..." I left it too late to get photos of the fruit bats, but they are so cute. They are damaging the trees in the gardens though so non-lethal methods have been introduced to move them onwards. They do carry rabies though which isn't so cute. Also in the park are some amazingly huge trees, which I also got some photos of.
Tuesday I headed off to Bondi to have a sit down on the beach. There's just something about me and beaches eh? It was a great day out there, none of that cold north wind, and there were a good few people wandering about on the sand. Also a lot of surfers braving the swells. I wonder what it'll be like in a few months time when the place is crawling with backpackers. (yeah, I know I'm one but I was alone and quiet and sober!) Didn't get to see any lifeguards about though, they seemed happily ensconced in their little watchtower. Maybe I should have fell into the water and splashed about a bit. I did wet my feet and the water was as cold as the Atlantic in summer at home. I think I may have gotten used to the tropics, I'm cold here... Brr...
