So we're only on a brief stop in Kuala Lumpur before we jet off to Oz on tonight. On our first night we took an easy stroll from our hotel in the Golden Triangle to the famous Patronas Towers. They are a work of art really, their aesthetic grace all floodlit in the darkness. The style of the buildings encompasses everything I love about Asian architecture, old and new.

We basically shopped all day of our second day in some great department stores. I can't say it's particularly cheap but the clothes are nice and we badly needed something that covered our knees and isn't shapeless!

Today we went back to Petronas Towers to explore the shopping centre below them. It's really posh and has posh prices to go with it! Gucci, Versace, etc... I did buy splash out on some trendy shorts though. There is a nice park just behind the towers where we chilled out for a while.

Kuala Lumpur was a nice surprise after the two other SE Asian metropolises we visited, Jakarta and Bangkok. We were expecting it to be somewhat like Bangkok but in fact the city has a more westernised feel. There are people of all colour and creed living here, and all seem to happily coexist - in KL at least. Everyone is very open and friendly, and genuinely helpful (not trying to sell you something).

In terms of architecture, there are some incredible skyscrapers, mosques and English colonial buildings. The road network is crazy and there seems to be a perpetual gridlock on the streets. Few motorbikes here, cars seem to be most popular, from beat up taxis to protons. We didn't get to sample a lot of the food unfortunately...but there is always next time!
