Maybe it had something to do with the aggressive taxi driver, the lack of interesting scenery or the impending rains, but Phuket (Pooket) was a bit boring. The hotel was really nice but the town held little of interest for us. To be fair, it is the off season and we didn't fully explore every bit of the place. On the streets we did wander about a bit (it was a Saturday night) but restaurants and bars were either closed or empty. After some chatting with the Scots over dinner (McDonalds at the shopping centre) we all decided to move in the morning to spend our last night over at the west coast resorts.
One point of interest, again relating to "The Beach" was the On On hotel which featured as a seedy hotel in Bangkok for the film - the scenes with Robert Carlyle.
