Our last stop in Veitnam was Ho Chi Minh City, in a lovely (cheap) hotel called Bali Boutique Hotel, highly recommend this to any traveller looking for a place to stay. It's located in district 1 (backpackers haven). The road is buzzing with bars restaurants and fellow backpackers getting drunk on cheap beer.

We visited the Cu Chi Tunnels which are an emense network of connecting underground tunnels stretching 250km. These tunnels were created in the Vietnamese war in 1968. The tunnel systems were of great importance in their resistance to American Forces (thank you Wikipedia). It was so amazing to see all the tunnels and how tiny they were, Sam was brave enough to go through some of the tunnels and he could believe that people actually lived in them. Some of the traps they created were very barbaric and quite cunning!

In the same place they had a shooting range and Sam jumped at the chance to shoot an AK47. I have never been that close to a gun being fired and I cannot believe how loud it was, just as we were walking down the steps (without ear protection) someone shot their gun I thought I'd burst my ear dumb!

The market close by, Binh Tay, was great! They have everything you could imagine but the woman are crazy. We walked through a section of the market and was getting pushed and pulled all over the place we ended up running for our lives!

We are quite sad to be leaving Vietnam but very excited to get back to Thailand to start visiting the Islands. Our favourite places have definitely been Hoi An and Nha Trang - maybe in the future we'll visit again!

Goodbye Vietnam.

Love from
Alex & Sam
