Dean: Up early and out at the edge of town for 09:00. Not much traffic going our way so pickings are slim (for hitching). We stayed there until 10:30 and then decided to give up (as we wanted food again!), but just at that point a huge truck pulled up and offered us a lift to Whitehorse (sorry parents - you are not going to like this!!!). The trucker's name was Billy from Dawson Creek and he was really nice and friendly. It took us 6 hours to get down to Whitehorse - Billy told us about his family and the local area. The truck was cool - it was massive and has a bed, fridge, TV, microwave, coffee maker, stereo etc. I want one! We got dropped off at the edge of town and had to walk to the other side through the pouring rain! But the time we got to the hostel we were drenched. The hostel was fully booked!!! They did have one 'room' left so we spent the night in one of their 'cabins' - by cabin read a shed in their back garden with a bed in it and a leaky roof! Anyway, the hostel was really nice, clean, organised and full of really nice people. We went for a Mexican meal (which was very nice) and then spent some time sitting with the other travellers, talking, reading, and checking our e-mails.

Thursday 29th June -
Dean: The hostel was full for tonight, so we have moved to a cheap hotel. It's above a bar, so sleeping tonight will be fun! Spent the day looking around Whitehorse. We went on the SS Klondike, which is one of the old steamers that was used to ferry the gold prospectors up to Dawson City (and carried the gold back down). For tea we went to a Chinesse restaurant and got served by this guy who looked and sounded like a young Brad Pitt! Apparantly, Alex hadn't noticed - yer right!!! When we got back to the hotel, we found out that it was ladies night, so we had to have the TV on load until past midnight, to drown out the sound of the ladies screaming "get them off" to some male stripper (I presume)!!! Pictures to follow (not of the stripper!), once we can find a hostel that allows us to connect USB cards to their PC's...

I could 'see' it
I feel I can 'see' everywhere you go by your discriptions- all so wonderful. The old 'Western' type town, the hostels- rough but fun I should think. The Truck. All very interesting.
Take care if you are hitching though.
