Alex: Seward is just on the edge of the Kenai Fjords National Park and the thing to do is go in a cruise of the park. Went out and saw Sea Otters, Humpback Whales, A black bear swimming (very exciting and quite unusual to see it was a couple of miles from the shore on either side and was swimming in water that had just melted from a glacier) Dall's Porpoise, Sea Lions and a fair few Glaciers, the most interesting being Hobarts Glacier which was calving into the sea. It make a wonderful sound like thunder as the piece of ice tumbles down the glacier front and crashes into the sea it almost seems to echo within the glacier.

Fantastic buffet of Salmon and Beef which Dean was less appreciative of than me as we discovered he suffers from sea sickness. Maybe the Galapogos is not such a great idea!

Dean: I was enjoying the trip on the 'Kenai Star' while we were in the bay, but once we got out into the Harding Gateway (part of the Gulf of Alaska / Pacific) it got a bit too rough for me! Once we had got over to Aialik bay (where the glacier is located) I was fine again. The glacier is amazing, and when a large slab broke off, just before we left, it was an amazing sight to see. On the way back it got rough again and I felt really bad. Chucked up twice over the side of the boat! (but in my defense, there where others being ill as well!). It was however worth it as we got to see some humpback whales and a bear swimming in the middle of the channel - they don't normally swim out that far.

On the boat, we were sat (everyone had a table to sit at if you wernt outside taking in the view) with a really nice couple from near Washington DC - Lou and Nancy. Lou - thanks for the advice about my glasses, I would have definitely have lost them overboard while I was being ill!!!
