Alex: Travelled to Seward (pronounced SOO-ard) today. Stunning journey, I saw a bald eagle. Seward is nice - a bit like Scarbough - with Fish and Chip shops on the front. The only real difference is the HUGE cruise ship in the port and the Mountains on all sides, unfortunately semi-covered by cloud today.

First night of "proper" backpacking as we are in a shared dorm. Also staying in the Moby Dick hostel is lady from Ilkley who has moved to Canada and drinks tea by the gallon! Nicer than the last place, a bit quiter than the last place and more relaxed.

Walked a million miles with backpacks to get to it as we went out to the visitors centre out on the far edge of town (only designed to be accessible via car or RV) and then doubled back on ourselves to the other side of town - not a happy Alex.

After we'd dumped the bags we went on a little wander along the front and to a pretty waterfall and generally chilled out.

Dean: Seward is really nice - it reminds me of the places my parents us to take us on holiday down in Dorset and Devon. The hostel is really nice and really friendly, with some other travellers there as well. Saw my first Sea Otter!!!
