Where I stayed
Quite a few people had recommended the red city sight seeing bus to us, so we decided to give it a go. We've never used one before - it's not really our thing - but it does make seeing the city in a short time very easy. That said the commentary was pretty poor, it didn't seem to really tell you anything very much or very interesting. I felt they got a little desperate at time, I realise the purpose of a children's play area and don't need it explaining ta.
First stop - table mountain. The cable car re-opened after some kind of fault just as we arrive so we had quite a queue. The trip up is fun - I particularly liked the revolving floor. And the views from the top are, as you would expect - amazing.
I'd worn silly shoes so we didn't stray far from the main trails, but really I don't think you have to. And even just getting off the paths close to the cable car terminal means you escape much of the crowd. That said it would have been nice to walk one way.
The bus then took us past the beaches where the beautiful people hang out, so we didn't get off, and then down the front to Seapoint where we took a bit of a wander. We planned to get lunch there but the lack of restaurants scuppered that, so we hopped back on and had calamari and chips (genius idea) at the V&A waterfront. We then took the bus back through the city and finished with a meander through the Company's Garden, this time with our camera.
Still lots we haven't done, but hopefully there'll be time.
We finished the day with a wonderful Ethiopian meal as Addis at the Cape. Beautiful stews served on a big shared pancake with extra pancakes to eat it with - yum.
Really grown to love Cape Town.
