As today is our last day in San Sebastian we thought it only right to head to the beach. As we are pathetic when it comes to these things we only lasted about three hours but we were quite impressed with that length of time!

The sea was beautifully cool and refreshing and the beach (La Concha) quieter than we had seen it...unlike later.

When we went back into town later for pintxos, the beach was as the guide book had described it: "an impenetrable mass of flesh". It was post-work and the tide was in - but still.

Our plans for pintxos in the old town were scuppered when we found everything closed. We soon discovered the reason as a protest passed - a fairly amicable one though, at first we thought it was lots more people headed to the beach.

After wandering aimlessly for a little while we headed to the 'new town' south of the beach, which we had left unexplored after getting very lost there trying to find the campsite. It turned out to be a good shopping centre with another impressive church (cathedral?) and enough bars to keep us fed and watered - busy once again because of the futbol (Spain vs Portugal - 1:0 when we left for the bus).

Kept up half the night by noisy, inconsiderate Brits - why does someone always have to produce a guitar?

We've loved San Sebastian - the bay is amazing, food superb and there is generally so much going on.
