We planned to stock up on a few essential before catching then train (if that is what you do on the Channel Tunnel). We drove to Cite Europe, the massive shopping centre by the Channel Tunnel, to stock up on beer, wine, cheese and maybe the odd globe artichoke. We were slightly perturbed by the almost deserted car park but as we were earlish walked to the door confidently, looked at the sign, returned less confidantly with the phrase book to be sure...closed Sunday. It was the same story at every supermarket we tried.

Fortunately all was not lost and we managed to find somewhere selling wine that was open to stock up on vin rouge but the rest...

As I was sulking over the lack of French cheese, Dean bought me some over-priced chunks from the Chunnel shop, along with a bit more wine, just to be sure.

At the other side of the tunnel the first thing we hit was a huge traffic jam - welcome back to Blighty!
