Putting the tent up was an absolute nightmare - more rocks than soil. It is now up but with half the pegs we normally use and most of those are in at crazy angles.
After relaxing around the tent we headed into San Sebastian for our tea - tapas or pintxos in Basque. The bay is stunning with mountains all around; broad, golden sandy beaches; a tiny hilly island and a mountain of a peninsula splitting the city. The peninsula also contains the parte vieja or old town - a mass of narrow streets and tapas bars.
The pintxos are gorgeous; a bit of something delicious - serrano ham, tiny cuttle fish, blood sausage, prawns - on a slice of bread. All washed down with una caņa. Even with the football on in every bar (Spain vs Chile / 2:1) we were disappointed to have to get our bus at 10 back to the campsite. Although the views of the sun-setting over the bay as we climbed up to our campsite made up for it somewhat. It was impossible to tell where the silver grey sea ended and the dusky pink sky began.
