So... it wasnīt us, Peru did kind of suck, and the last 10 days has made us feel a whole lot better about why we are indeed out here! We think we will like it here so updates will be more regular...

Crossing the border was simple, bus, taxi to border, emtpy office, 200 metre walk, another empty office and we were in Bolivia! Not too happy at paying the $135 fee for americans though (Alex was free.. )Copacabana is only just over the border and still on the lake, and was actually very picturesque and a nice stop off. We then headed onto Sorata, healthily lower at 2,600mtrs and situated in an amazing steep sided valley, with the mighty Illampu towering 6,400metres above. The valley was simply stunning, and by far the most beautiful place our travels have taken us so far. The first couple of night were spent in the town at what we can only describe as an old colonial īpileī. It was huge, about 50 rooms, gardens, courtyards, which had been a family home and now still owned by the same family but run as a hostel. It was essentialy falling down, the rooms were huge, some empty, mattresses and general facilities terrible but it was an awsome sight, as the pictures show. Itīs a shame they only charged us $2 a night as it could have been something really special as a hotel. The town bored us, bad food, unfriendly locals on the whole and really smelly! We eventualy found a place run by a nice German lady and moved in there, her mueseli for breakfast was awesome. We did some amazing walking, a highlight was a long walk to a huge cave with a lake and many bats... Anna not too pleased Alex thought they were cool... The pictures of Sorata are pretty good though so have a look, better than we can describe it.

After Sorata, we reapeted the awful windy journey over the mountains (unpaved roads...) and onto La Paz, a pretty cool city with nice craft shops and some much needed good food!
