Stayed at the famous Copacabana beach, gorgeous white sand  and turquoise sea overlooked by sugarloaf mountain at one end and Christ the redeemer. We enjoyed a capirinha at a bar on the beach whilst watching the surfers in the huge waves. 

We waited for a clear day to get a taxi to Cocovada where we caught a train up to Christ the redeemer and views over the whole of Rio. Afterwards we caught the metro to Botofago beach and walked up the road to the cable car which took us up sugar loaf mountain to watch sunset over cocovada. 

Also visited upmarket Ipanema beach, the next bay down the coast and did a bit of shopping along the way.
