Left Auckland at 430pm on 11th April then arrived in Chile at 12noon the same day. Wandered around the hostel like zombies for the 1st night trying to get over the jet lag. Woke up at 430pm the next day! Luckily it doesnt get dark until late so we walked into the town centre´and had a look at the main square or Plaza de Armas and walked across the river near Parque metrapolitano to the main bar and restaurant area for tea.

The city is grey and smoggy and there´s graffiti everywhere you look. Apparently we are surrounded by the andes, we just can´t see them through all the smog! We planned to leave the next day but missed the bus after relying on BBC news for the wrong time (it was an hour fast).
